| The Cape Times of the Currie Cup on 22 January 1902 reports that " an interesting exhibition of diving was given by a squad of Green and Sea Point Club members -Messrs. GW Pilkington, J Overbeek, R Barbour, R Solomon and A Cornwell. Their work was beautiful and was received with considerable applause Special mention should be made of R Solomon, and youth of about 14 years, who gave a particularly clean exhibition of the art. |

The RSA Cup
This is an unusual competition which starts with a full list dive off to establish the seedings of the divers in the men's and women's events. Once seeded the competition turns into a knockout series based on the Wimbeldon tennis knockout system for the top 8 men and women. The knockouts are one on one events over 5 dives for women and 6 dives for men. The knockout system is a very exciting competition. The divers are allowed to use any dive without limitations - in other words they encouraged to use the most difficult dives possible. The current RSA Cup holder, Nicolas Pawley [CGA] will be battling it out against the van der Sluys brothers, Addie and Marcus, both from Northern Tigers in the men's event. The van der Sluys sisters, Chereze and Nandi are the favourites in the women's event. Ernst de Jong, the internationally renowned artist, former Springbok diver and World Masters Champion diver who donated the pool to the Pretoria City will be doing the honours to open the event.
